HAMMERSMITH CINEMA RELAUNCHES AT RIVERSIDE STUDIOS WITH NEWLY REFURBISHED FOYER, GREAT VALUE TICKET DEALS, AND A BOLD AUGUST-SEPTEMBER PROGRAMME

Riverside Studios in West London has relaunched its cinema offering under the new name Hammersmith Cinema, unveiling a newly refurbished foyer, great value ticket deals, and a vibrant and eclectic programme for August and September.

The venue’s two screens – a 200+ seat main auditorium with 4K projection and a 48-seat screen with 2K projection – will host a diverse mix of films, from Hollywood blockbusters and international festival favourites to cult classics and family screenings. Tickets start at £7, complementing the cinematic quality with a sleek bar serving craft beers and cocktails, and a bakery offering gourmet toasties and snacks.

“Our aim is to present a dynamic, inclusive programme that speaks to the diversity of our community – from world cinema to timeless classics, film festivals and even television showcases – while creating a space that feels welcoming, stylish, and great value for money.” 

A new audience incentive includes free small popcorn for children under 12 all day, every day, and free small popcorn every Monday for all ticket holders.

The Riverside Pass also offers patrons exceptional year-round value: the first six cinema tickets free each membership year, followed by a 10 % discount on regular ticket prices, free popcorn at every cinema visit, discounts across Riverside’s bars and bakery, no booking fees, priority booking, plus exclusive invitations to special screenings and events.

Standard ticket prices are: Adults £13 (off-peak & classic re-releases £11); Concessions £11 (off-peak & classic re-releases £9); Under-25s & Dive Ins £9 (off-peak & classic re-releases £7).

Audiences can also experience ‘Pitchblack Playback’, a series of immersive listening sessions in the dark via Screen One sound system. The surround sound for these events showcases the powerful cinema system for audiences to hear every nuance of the music.

The Pitchblack Playback sessions include Soundgarden ‘Superunknown’ (19 August), playing one of the greatest rock albums of the '90s; Twin Peaks – Season Two Music and More (28 August), with an audio soundtrack of beguiling sounds of Angelo Badalamenti and David Lynch's Twin Peaks Season Two; and David Bowie ‘Live At Montreux’ (12 September), a previously unreleased David Bowie live concert from 2002 ahead of its release on the 'I Can't Give Everything Away (2002 - 2016)' box set.

The New Releases and Contemporary Cinema line-up includes  The Naked Gun (dates until 21 Aug), the beloved slapstick comedy starring Liam Neeson; Friendship (13–14 Aug), a moving coming-of-age drama; Materialists (15–21 Aug, with a Parent & Baby Screening on 18 Aug), a stylish romantic comedy; Weapons (15–21 Aug), an intense ensemble drama; and The Life of Chuck (22–28 Aug, with a Parent & Baby Screening on 25 Aug), a Stephen King adaptation exploring life in three acts.

Classics and Cult Favourites My Beautiful Laundrette (14–20 Aug), celebrating its 40th anniversary with an introduction by Hanif Kureishi; Sense and Sensibility (17–21 Aug), Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning adaptation of Jane Austen; Fargo (17–20 Aug), the Coen Brothers’ snowbound noir; The Big Lebowski (23–26 Aug), their cult bowling comedy; This is Spinal Tap (24–27 Aug), Rob Reiner’s mockumentary masterpiece; O Brother, Where Art Thou? (30 Aug–3 Sept), marking its 25th anniversary with its bluegrass-infused odyssey; Jaws (30 Aug–2 Sept), celebrating 50 years of Spielberg’s shark thriller alongside a production photograph showcase; and Twin Peaks: Season 1 Pilot Episode (31 Aug), screened with coffee and cherry pie.

Bollywood and World Cinema highlights include Son of Sardaar 2 (16–18 Aug), a high-energy action comedy; Saiyaara [dates tbc], a vibrant new romance from the Indian subcontinent; the African Cultural Documentary Series (7 Sept), showcasing stories from across the continent; and the London Spanish Film Festival strand, featuring Molt Lluny (Away) (21 Sept), Warhol – Vijande: Mas Que Pistolas, Cuchillos Y Cruces + Q&A (22 Sept), Desmontando Un Elefante (Dismantling an Elephant) (23 Sept), Antes De Nós (Before Nós) (24 Sept), and La Furia (The Fury) (25 Sept).

The Special Events and Screenings programme National Theatre Live: Inter Alia (4 Sept), a new work brought to the big screen; Sparkling: The Story of Champagne + Champagne Reception (8 Sept), pairing a documentary with a tasting experience; and Doctor Who: Projections In Time – Resurrection Of The Daleks + Special Guests (14 Sept), celebrating the Time Lord’s legacy.
