Featuring a long-awaited Philip Ridley revival, transfers from Watermill Theatre and Off-Broadway and a new show from Fringe legends Awkward Productions, Autumn 2025 is set at King's Head Theatre
Sofi Berenger, Executive Producer and Acting CEO, and the whole team at the King’s Head Theatre, are delighted to announce their upcoming season from August 2025 to early 2026, which goes on-sale today for World Theatre Day. The new season features transfers from both UK regional venues and from Off-Broadway, as well as a major revival and more.

Kicking off the new season, opening this August, will be the first major revival since Jamie Lloyd’s 2017 production of Philip Ridley’s 1991 debut play The Pitchfork Disney. Produced by Lidless Theatre, Zoe Weldon and co-produced by King’s Head Theatre Productions, the show will be directed by Max Harrison who returns to King’s Head Theatre with another Ridley after their 2021 production of Tender Napalm. He has also recently directed sell-out runs of Ridley’s other pieces including Leaves Of Glass (Park Theatre) and Moonfleece (Pleasance Theatre). Considered one of the shows to kick off the in-yer-face movement of the 1990’s, Ridley’s first play is a darkly comic and deeply unsettling story of living in a climate of fear. The Pitchfork Disney will play from 27 August to 4 October.

Also from 3 September to 3 October will be the UK premiere of Off-Broadway cult hit Invasive Species, written by and starring Maia Novi. Invasive Species is a dark comedy and true story about an Argentinian actress, committed to a youth psychiatric ward, who will stop at nothing to achieve her dream of being in the American movies. Named one of the best cultural works of the year by The Hollywood Reporter, the play is directed by Pulitzer Prize finalist Michael Breslin and produced by Folk Productions (Eric Kuhn, Tre’ Scott and Adam Rodner).

This will be followed by the London transfer of the ‘life-enhancing comedy’ Fanny, from 10 October to 15 November, following a successful run at the Watermill Theatre. Written by Calum Finlay, directed by Katie-Ann McDonough and with Mischief Theatre’s Charlie Russell as FANNY and Creative Associate, the show imagines that Fanny intercepts her young brother, Felix Mendelssohn’s, invitation to play for Queen Victoria and take her rightful place at the palace. Celebrating music, comedy and nineteenth-century smash hits, the show is produced by RJG Productions in association with the Watermill Theatre.
In December, King’s Head Theatre Productions presents its second annual pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk which has been previously announced. The show will once again be written and directed by panto royalty Andrew Pollard, and will feature both family friendly shows and adults only performances.
Playing alongside the pantomime for the holiday season will be The Fit Prince (who gets switched on the square in the frosty castle the night before (insert public holiday here)), the new show from cult hit duo Awkward Productions and co-produced by King’s Head Theatre Productions. Known for their shows Gwyneth Goes Skiing and Diana: The Untold & Untrue Story, both of which toured internationally, the company’s new show parodies Netflix/Hallmark holiday rom-coms, promising the beloved Awkward Prods brand of camp queer chaos. The Fit Prince will premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe, marking a return to producing at the Fringe for King’s Head Theatre, before its London run this Christmas from 2 December to 3 January. The duo will also be returning with Diana: TheUntold and Untrue Story after it’s smash hit run last year at King’s Head Theatre for two nights only following it’s international tour on 30th & 31st May.
The theatre recently underwent a major upgrade for its second year in its new, purpose-built home in Islington Square, with the auditorium being fitted with new padded seating. The Spring 2025 season has already seen the premiere of gay romance Firebird and Stalled: A New Musical, and opening this week is dark comedy (This is not a) Happy Room by Rosie Day.
Sofi Berenger, Acting CEO of King’s Head Theatre says:“As we announce the full programme for our second year in the new venue, it’s a real honour to be co-producing and presenting with such incredible producers and artists. Thanks to the Angels of Angel Production fund, this year we’re able to co-produce The Gang of Three, The Pitchfork Disney, of course our pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk, and Awkward Productions’ new show The Fit Prince which will be heading to Edinburgh Fringe before its London run with us this Christmas. I’m really proud of the Autumn season, all of which lives up to the scale of our new auditorium, and marks our first major revival, with transfers from the Watermill and Off-Broadway before our Christmas season.”
