THEATRE ROYAL WINDSOR ANNOUNCES THEATRE ROYAL WINSOR SEASON ON TOUR

Theatre Royal Windsor, one of the only unsubsidised producing theatres to operate all year round in Britain, today announces the Theatre Royal Windsor Season on Tour, comprising three productions originating at the theatre and touring the UK in 2026.

The 2026 Theatre Royal Windsor Season on Tour will include Noël Coward’s The Marquise, opening at Theatre Royal Windsor in May 2026, Graham Greene’s Our Man in Havana, opening there in July 2026, and the return of Royce Ryton’s acclaimed thriller The Anastasia File, which opens in September 2026, before touring across the UK.

Noël Coward’s witty romantic comedy The Marquise gets a vibrant 1930s twist in this new production originating at Theatre Royal Windsor, from Wednesday 27 May – Saturday 6 June 2026, before touring to Oxford Playhouse, Theatre Royal Bath, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford and further venues to be announced.

When a widowed Count tries to marry off his daughter to the son of his best friend, it seems like a perfectly sensible plan. But with both young lovers secretly pining for others, their entangled affections cause chaos. Just as their scheme to break free begins, the Countess Raoul’s former lover, the spirited Marquise Eloise de Kestournel, bursts back into their lives, wielding her wit and charm and turning their carefully laid plans upside down.

A sparkling and sophisticated tale of old secrets, impulsive passion and eternal youth, the production is directed by Philip Wilson, with set and costume design by Colin Falconer and lighting design by Nick Richings. A star cast is to be announced.

Our Man in Havana, adapted by Clive Francis from Graham Greene’s novel, opens at Theatre Royal Windsor from Wednesday 1 July – Saturday 11 July 2026, before touring to Salisbury Playhouse, Oxford Playhouse, Theatre Royal Bath, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford, Cheltenham Everyman and further venues to be announced.

Our Man in Havana follows James Wormold, a British vacuum cleaner salesman in pre-revolutionary Havana, Cuba. Struggling financially to support his spoiled daughter, Wormold is recruited by MI6 agent Hawthorne to be a spy. Lacking any actual spy skills or intentions, Wormold fabricates an entire network of fictional agents and reports, using his imagination and local bar conversations. His absurd reports, claiming to depict secret weapons, are taken seriously by MI6, leading to real-world consequences as the Cuban government grows suspicious.

A wonderfully funny and fast-moving romp, the production is directed by Philip Wilson, with set and costume design by Julie Godfrey, lighting design by Nick Richings, and sound design by Andy Graham, with casting to be announced.

Royce Ryton’s The Anastasia File returns in the autumn, following its recent critically acclaimed run at Theatre Royal Windsor from Wednesday 30 September – Saturday 3 October 2026, before touring to Salisbury Playhouse, Malvern Theatres, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford, and further venues to be announced.

Based on the enduring mystery surrounding the fate of the Grand Duchess Anastasia, the play explores the claims of a young woman who believes she may be the sole surviving member of the Russian royal family. As her story unfolds, questions of memory, truth and identity are tested, leading to a gripping and compelling theatrical experience.

The production is directed by Roy Marsden and stars returning cast Jenny Seagrove, Simon Shepherd, Ashley D. Gayle and Rosie Thomson, with sound design by Dan Samson.

Theatre Director and Head of Venues for Bill Kenwright Ltd, Anne-Marie Woodley said, “In recent years, we’ve been immensely proud to develop exceptional work here at Theatre Royal Windsor, including our annual World Premieres born from our Writers in Residence initiative. Launching the first three plays of the Theatre Royal Windsor Season on Tour marks an exciting new chapter for us, and we’re thrilled to bring our productions to audiences across the UK.”

Theatre Royal Windsor sits at the heart of the town, carrying over 200 years of history behind its doors.

It is one of the UK’s only yearround producing theatres operating without public funding. As part of The Bill Kenwright Group, Theatre Royal Windsor has built a reputation for standout productions and an ability to attract toptier talent to its stage — solidifying its position as one of Britain’s leading regional theatres.
